3D Background Products and Layouts

Save your Foreground and Background layers as separate PNG files

  1. Open your 3D Background in PhotoShop

  2. Turn off the Background and Model layers so that only the Foreground layer is showing and Save As a PNG

  3. I suggest naming this image 409-Foreground-8x12.png

  4. Do the same for the Background

  5. I suggest naming it 409-Background-8x12.png

Move PNG files to FLOW data folders

  1. Open Windows Explorer (i.e. open any folder) and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Flow

  2. This is where all of your FLOW data files exist

  3. Open the Backgrounds Folder (C:\ProgramData\Flow\Backgrounds) and place all of your Background PNG files in this location

  4. Open the Graphics Folder and make a New Folder named "3D Files"

  5. Paste all of your Foreground PNG files in this location

Create a Layout

  1. Open FLOW and navigate to the Layout tab

  2. Click on New to start a new layout, enter the Layout Size you want to create in the Properties section

Add Background Layer

  1. Select the Insert Graphic button underneath Tools on the right side - a Windows Explorer window will appear

  2. Navigate to the Background folder (C:\ProgramData\Flow\Backgrounds) and select the Background for this particular layout and click Open

  3. You will see the background appear in the Objects palette, click on it

  4. Under Object Properties type in the location and size of your background

      1. The Location and Size will be dependent on the specific size of your background

Add Subject Layer

  1. Select the Insert Graphic button

  2. Navigate to the FLOW Graphics folder (C:\ProgramData\Flow\Graphics) - it automatically opens to this folder

  3. Select Photo_5x7.png (or type it into the Filename path)

  4. You will see the new layer in the Objects palette, click on it

  5. Under Object Properties type in the location and size of your Subject image

  6. Under Image Properties select Subject Image and from the dropdown select Primary Image

  7. Ensure BOTH Transparent Background and Use Ordered Image if Available are checked

Add Foreground Layer

  1. Select the Insert Graphic button

  2. Navigate to 3D Files folder (C:\ProgramData\Flow\Graphics\3D Files) and select the layout's Foreground and click Open

  3. You will see the Foreground layer appear in the Objects palette, click on it

  4. Under Object Properties type in the location and size of your foreground (it will likely match the background location and size)

  5. You can manually adjust the size and location of Objects by selecting one from the Objects palette and then using your mouse to make adjustments on the layout.

Once completed, your layout should look something like this:

Save the Layout

  1. Click on the Save button and then Save As - a windows explorer window will appear

  2. Right-click in this window and create a New Folder called 3D Background Layout

  3. Type in the name you would like to use for your newly formed layout

  4. Suggest to use a descriptive naming scheme like [background code]-[image size].lyt (e.g. 409-8x10)
